Chris Bowles is a specialist in mechanical circulatory support based at Harefield Hospital with over three decades’ clinical experience. Having completed a degree in biochemistry and qualified as an adult and paediatric perfusionist at the National Heart Hospital Chris was instrumental in establishing the circulatory support programme at Harefield Hospital in the late 80’s. He completed a PhD in 1996 investigating splanchnic ischaemia during cardiopulmonary bypass. Chris is author of 75 peer review publications and has supervised PhD students. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol where he contributes to the MSc in Perfusion Science.
